Due to continuing construction on the Glendo Reservoir Dam, visitors could experience delays when traveling across the dam.
The project, funded by the Bureau of Reclamation and awarded to Johnson Wilson Construction, involves work on the top of the dam that is expected to continue into July.
Delays could last as long as 20 minutes or longer and will affect visitors traveling to Sandy Beach, Cottonwood, Burnt Wagon, Broken Arrow and Muddy Bay campgrounds. Visitors to other areas of the park should not experience any delays.
These delays will not be in effect during the Memorial Day weekend; however, traffic will be reduced to one lane across the dam with traffic lights directing traffic through the construction zone.
Information regarding the project and any delays is available at the park’s fee booths.
The contractor has made the following improvements to the roadway across the dam. The road base has been repaired and all pot holes have been filled; a French drain system has been placed in the road to drain excess water in the event of a heavy rain and a layer of recycled asphalt has been placed over the road base.
