According to information provided by the Bureau of Reclamation, the release of water from Glendo Reservoir will be decreased resulting in the draining of water from Guernsey Reservoir July 8-10.
The decreased flow will result in a rapid decline of water from Guernsey Reservoir by approximately 15 feet. On July 8, the boat ramps on Guernsey Reservoir will no longer be usable.
From July 11 through July 24 water will flow from Glendo Reservoir through Guernsey Reservoir providing silt to the canals of downstream irrigators.
Water levels in Guernsey Reservoir will increase beginning July 24 and is expected to be at a level suitable for recreation by the evening of July 26.
The Department would like to remind the public that due to the continuing construction on the Guernsey Dam, water levels from July 26 and later will only accommodate small boats and personal watercraft such as Wave Runners and Sea-Doos. Construction on the Dam is expected to last until March 2014.
