A barn, a part of the Ranching exhibit at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site in Laramie was destroyed by fire Sunday.
The fire, reported at approximately 10 a.m., was confined to the barn. Nearby a historic log cabin and buildings relocated from the Chimney Rock Ranch were not damaged due to the efforts of local fire crews.
Two horses, used for patrol and interpretation at Curt Gowdy State Park and the Territorial Prison stabled in the barn were removed by staff and were unharmed.
The barn was built at the site in 2001 through the use of recycled materials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wyoming State Fire Marshal.
