Wyoming’s State Parks and Historic Sites accommodated nearly 2.9 million visitors last year resulting in a five percent increase in visitation over 2012 and a four percent increase in the average counts for the past five years.

The Division started accounting for winter visitation last year as well which adds approximately one million more visitors to the counts listed above.

The visitors were counted at 28 sites within the State Park and Historic Site system.

“This increase aligns with the hard work of our staff, new facilities, amenities and programming we put forward to encourage repeat customers and entice new visitation to our beautiful state,” State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails Administrator Domenic Bravo said.

State Parks’ and Historic Sites’ visitation continue to grow and 2013 continues this trend as the highest attended year on record.

"It appears that 2013 was another record year for visitation throughout Wyoming. Seeing this kind of growth in our State Parks is consistent with the increases we are seeing all across the state. State Parks are an essential part of a positive Wyoming experience and we are pleased to have the opportunity to promote them," Diane Shober, executive director for the Wyoming Office of Tourism added.
