In conjunction with this year’s Rev3 Cowboy Tough Expedition Race, two Wyoming State Parks –Curt Gowdy and Glendo -- will host events featuring highly popular trail systems at both venues.

On July 12, the Cowboy Tough Sprint Adventure Race takes place at Curt Gowdy State Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This adventure race is designed for racers from 12 years to 99 years young who want to experience the fun and excitement of racing off-road in a compact format perfect for the racer just getting into the sport or those with limited time to race.

The race features a beginner category where participants trek on foot to accumulated points following a map (with plotted points). Checkpoints will be located on the trails or at easily recognizable topographical features such as stream crossing or high points.

Solo racers and teams of two or three then mount their mountain bike to reach checkpoints throughout the park and then complete mental or physical challenges to complete the race.

Physical challenges could include paddle boarding on Granite Spring Reservoir! Estimated time to complete the race is 3 hours for more experienced racers or up to 5 hours for those newer to adventure racing.

For those who are really looking for a challenge, the race will also feature an elite division where racers will need to find more checkpoints and cover more challenging off road terrain while experiencing the wonders of Curt Gowdy State Park and its International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) designed mountain bike course. Estimated time to complete the elite course is 4 – 7 hours.

Participants can register through July 9 by visiting

Curt Gowdy State Park is located between Cheyenne and Laramie on Hwy. 210 (Happy Jack Road.)

If mountain biking is your thing, the Cowboy Tough Mountain Bike Race will take place at Glendo State Park, July 13 from 9:30 – 11 a.m.

Racers can choose from one of four divisions ranging from Young Warriors to Newbie to Weekend Warriors and Trails Experts.

Glendo State Park now features some of the best of what Wyoming has to offer via this new and improved mountain biking course completed summer 2013. Experience this fun, fast course with REV3Adventure.

The Young Warriors (under 16 years of age) and Newbie division will ride beginner and intermediate trails and the Weekend Warriors and Trail Experts will ride the same trails but with a few more challenging offshoots. Trails used in the race are all based out of the Two Moon Camp Grounds.
