Bear River State Park road construction to cause, closure, delays

Bear River State Park road maintenance will result in closure of the lower park road while the entrance pavement is replaced on October 5 and 6.

Public access to the Visitor Center will still be available; however visitors should expect construction traffic, minor delays and detours.

Construction on other roads within the park will continue through November 1 and will involve asphalt patching, crack sealing and pavement striping. This project is funded by the State Park road maintenance budget.

DLH, Inc. of Mills, Wyo. is the general contractor for the project.

About Bear River State Park

Bear River State Park and Travel Information Center are located on the eastern edge of Evanston, just off I-80 at Exit 6.

Bear River is a year-round park that offers nearly 300 acres that are ideal for picnicking, hiking, wildlife viewing, group activities, bicycling, skiing, rollerblading, remote control cars and many other activities. The park is home to a small head of captive bison and elk kept for public viewing. Three miles of foot trails are within park limits. They include 1.2 miles of paved trail and an arched footbridge that crosses the Bear River. Another 1.7 miles of packed gravel trails are on the of the west side of the river. The foot trails in the park also double as cross-country ski trails in the winter, weather prmitting. This park is for day-use only: no overnight camping is allowed.
