  • Propane, charcoal grills still ok at Glendo, Guernsey

    unnamed

    July 18, 2018

Despite recent fire restrictions instituted by the Platte County Commission, an enjoyable camping experience is still possible at Glendo and Guernsey state parks.

Propane grills and stoves and charcoal grills can still be used to prepare popular camping dishes and provide adequate warmth. These grills must have covers/lids and be within an arm’s length when lit.

However, as always park patrons are reminded that possession of all fireworks is prohibited.

There are no restrictions at Seminoe State Park.

  • Guernsey State Park Silt Run scheduled to begin the evening of July 4

    unnamed

    June 27, 2017

    Contact: Wyo State Parks, 307-777-6323

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

According to information provided by the Bureau of Reclamation, the annual Guernsey Reservoir silt run will begin the evening of July 4 and the boat ramps are expected to no longer be usable by July 8.

Due to low water levels at Guernsey State Park during the time period, water recreation opportunities will not be available through July 30 when the reservoir is expected to return to normal.

The Park will remain open as always during the silt run and visitors can expect much less traffic and neighboring campers.

Those looking to pursue water sports are encouraged to visit Glendo State Park. Guernsey State Park also offers alternative activities, such as hiking, visiting the local CCO built "Castle" and the Oregon Trail Ruts/Register Cliff.

Guests are welcome to change/cancel reservations by calling 877-996-7275. Cancellation/changes rates apply, but refunds are given for Day Use, Camping and Electricity fees.

The silt run is a yearly operation that provides silt-laden water to Goshen, Gering-Fort Laramie, and Pathfinder irrigation districts under contract with the BOR. These typically occur after July 4, but can vary on exact date and frequency year to year depending on water levels and needs for irrigation.

The Wyo State Parks apologizes for the inconvenience of the silt run to recreationists. Persons with questions/concerns, are asked to please call Cheyenne HQ at 307-777-6323.
