 The second program in the Fort Fred Steele 150th Anniversary Celebration Series will examine the Sheep Industry in Carbon County at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.June 9 at the fort.

The program is free and the public is invited.

The Sheep industry in Wyoming had a modest start, but by the 1870s several large operations sprouted up and sheep populations continued to grow.

Join local presenters as they talk about the rise and fall of the sheep industry in Carbon County and the economic diversity it provided Wyoming.

Climb into a replica sheep wagon for a first-hand experience on what it was like to be a sheep herder during those times. Cake and refreshments will be served.

Other programs during the summer long series are titled Lincoln Highway, June 23; Towns and Ghost Towns: A storyboard Walk, July 7; and 150 with the Railroad, July 21; Mining in Carbon County: A Storyboard Walk, Aug. 4; State Parks on I-80: A Storyboard Walk. Aug. 18; Tie Hacks, Sept. 1.

Fort Fred Steele is located at Exit 228 on I-80 east of Rawlins.
