As this phenomenal arty journey comes to a close, Guernsey State Park stands as the grand finale, encapsulating the essence of this nature-filled experience. The park's winding roads, sparkling reservoir, breathtaking views, and diverse weather patterns provided the perfect backdrop for the conclusion of my artist residency. From cooling off on paddleboards to cozying up in a yurt, Guernsey offered a wonderfully mixed bag of experiences that mirrored the ever-changing personality of the Wyoming wilderness.

The road brought me to Keyhole State Park, a hidden treasure nestled amidst the vast grasslands near Moorcroft. This park, a testament to the incredible beauty of surprises, boasts a stunning reservoir dotted with vibrant pink and orange rocks.

The next stop on my arty residency found me exploring Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis, WY. This park is a true testament to nature's toasty + wild wonders, boasting rejuvenating hot pools, vibrant colors, and encounters with the wild, bison-y inhabitants that call this amazing place home. From experiencing the morning mist rising from the hot pools to crossing a suspension bridge and sharing the road with majestic bison, my time at Hot Springs State Park was an absolutely perfect blend of relaxation, awe, and a gentle reminder of our place within the natural world.

Continuing my arty odyssey through the breathtaking landscapes of Wyoming, my next stop led me to the awe-inspiring Boysen State Park, nestled within the embrace of the Wind River Canyon. This unique haven of natural beauty presented a sensory-bombarding blend of rushing waters, rugged canyons, and vibrant sunflowers. From heart-pounding white-water rafting to creating art on the tranquil riverbanks, Boysen State Park etched its beauty onto my heart and canvas in ways I could have never anticipated.

Rolling in deeper to the heart of Wyoming's wonders, I found myself driving into Sinks Canyon State Park, a place where geological marvels and artistic inspiration collide. Nestled near Lander, this ridiculously amazing hidden treasure offers a unique mix of disappearing rivers, cascading waterfalls, and steal-your-breath vistas.

I hopped on the road to more artsy Wyo exploration and landed at the enchanting Seminoe State Park. Nestled in the heart of central Wyoming, this hidden of the most hidden gems proved to be a perfect canvas for creativity. From breathtaking sunrises atop the craggy ridgeline to paddling through serene (and sometimes windy) waters and encountering the untamed beauty of the wilderness, Seminoe State Park left an indelible (and completely unexpected) mark on my little artist soul.

An artist residency is meant to give the artist uninterrupted time in a space (in this case, nature) to really soak it all in and be inspired to create some amazing art.  I recently had the incredible opportunity to begin my artist residency with the Wyo State Parks at Curt Gowdy, just outside my hometown of Cheyenne. This picturesque park, nestled in the heart of the wild landscapes and rock formations long left behind by the glaciers that formed them, provided the perfect setting for me to immerse myself in the creative process while sharing meaningful moments with my daughter. From bopping along the Stone Temple Trail to encountering wildlife and cozying up during afternoon rain showers, every moment of this residency was a lesson in the beauty of art and nature coming together.
